Thursday Night Swing Social   

 Every week from 7:30-10:30pm

Join Step Into Swing at Madhat Ballroom in Govenor's Square in West Des Moines for Thursday Night Swing Social.  $2 at door will get you a botle of water, dance lesson from 7:30-8 and dancing to great music from 8 to 10:30.  You can dance to the best 20's to 50's swing and jazz music, practice, or just socialize with other swing dancers.

 Spicy Pickles will be playing at Madhat Ballroom on Thursday, May 16th from 8 to 10:30.  $5 at the door

June 27th, July 25th and August 23rd, Thursday Night Swing Social will be at Gray's Lake.  Live music from Spicy Pickles and 4th Street Swing.

Heartland Swing Festival 2014

 Heartland Swing Festival, organized by the one and only Michael Barfford, is a dance weekend that is scheduled to be held right here in Des Moines the first weekend in March 2014.  Instructors for this 3rd year will be announced soon.  It starts with Thursday Night Swing Social and 4th Street Swing, then continuing for three more days of swing dancing that includes classes for all levels, dances with live music, DJ's playing your favorite jazz and blues, and contests that highlight competitors from all across the region.

The Heartland Swing Festival welcomes dancers of all ages and ability levels. It is a time to make new friends and visit with old ones. Through classes, dances, and competitions they hope to continue to promote the swing dance scene in Iowa and throughout the Midwest.

Jitterbugs' Night Out is held upstairs at the Eagles Lodge on 24th & Douglas in Omaha, every Friday night! Doors open at 7:30, and then the evening starts at 8:00 p.m. with a beginning swing dance lesson (no partner required). The DJ spins their tunes until midnight. This event is smoke-free, alcohol-free, and all ages. Alcohol is available from the bar downstairs. Dressing sharp is strongly encouraged, as is bathing. Come on out and see what's got people talking.

Jive Junction is the third Friday of every month. Swing Des Moines’ monthly swing dance. DJ Randy Reid plays music from the 20’s through the 50’s.  Check their website for more details.
